I was handed the keys to my car Thursday evening with a fresh new turbo installed after it was found that the old one had been spilling oil all over itself.
I handed over the keys to my baby and was whisked away by an Enterprise driver. He then handed me the keys to a stained, smelly Hyundai Accent.
Fast forward through all the misery to Thursday morning when the call to come pick up my vehicle came through. I was excited, to say the least. I left work early to beat some of the LA rush hour traffic, returned the rental, and was dropped off at the dealership.
My car was waiting right up front for me like an ecstatic puppy, even though I was the one filled with excitement.
Friday evening on my way home from work I decided I'd give it a little third gear pull. The car jerked pretty violently and the check engine, traction control, and cruise control lights all lit up. Christmas!
I called the service department manager and she said it sounded like a hose came loose. So, it's going back in on Tuesday and I'll be in a miserable Enterprise rental yet again.
It's driving normally now, but I can't say anything about its drive-ability under boost. If it's dropped pressure then I'm just going to assume it'll be low on power. Either way, I'm not going to be doing any spirited driving until after it's been repaired. Again.

Sounds oddly familiar. Had the Cooper S in for service; drove to in-laws post-service with much improved turbo noise (wooooosh!) only to have a limited power and Christmas! on my dash 3/4 of the way there. Culprit: loose turbo inlet hose.

Does any service writer anywhere know how to use the proper words and or spelling EVER?

You really shouldn't drive a turbo car after a loss of power, specially in a VFseries turbo equipped Subaru! If you blew your turbo (which happens as you describe, only you should hear something that sounds like a popcorn machine) it will send metal through your engine and subsequently kill any new turbo you put on there quite quickly. Are you active on nasioc.com?

I have a warranty.
And I wasn't going to buy a new car from a company that isn't going to exist in this country for much longer.

It honestly sounds like that's the case with my WRX.
